<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>We held our training day on 14th March, which now seems a very long time ago. Numbers, at ten student and four instructors, were only slightly down on our usual expectations, and much useful work was done. Two new members were enrolled by Fr Michael Cullinan.<br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/josephshaw/49444214186/in/album-72157712842707047/" title="IMG_1359"><img alt="IMG_1359" height="500" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49444214186_7155809c89.jpg" width="371" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
St James' Spanish Place proved an excellent venue for a Society of St Tarcisius Server Training Day. Our January event attracted about 20 students, who were looked after by five instructors. We enrolled two new members and had a couple of promotions as well.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We used five of the church's altars in the course of the day: there are more! Two of them, not only the High Altar but also the Lady Chapel, are roomy enough to allow rehearsals of Missa Cantata.</div>

<br />
A big 'thank you' to all those, students and instructors, who made 2019 such a big success for the Society of St Tarcisius. This year we have enrolled 70 members!<br />
<br />
We have confirmed dates for the first half of 2020.<br />
<br />
We also have a new venue: St James' Spanish Place: see below.<br />
<br />
Dates for 2020, all Saturdays:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">January 25th (<a href="https://lms.org.uk/civicrm/event/register?id=148&reset=1">booking page</a>)</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">March 14th (<a href="https://lms.org.uk/civicrm/event/register?id=149&reset=1">booking page</a>)</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><b><span style="font-size: large;">May 9th (<a href="https://lms.org.uk/civicrm/event/info%3Fid%3D150%26reset%3D1">booking page</a>)</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
<a name='more'></a>St James' Spanish Place is located at 22 George Street, London, W1U 3QY (<a href="https://goo.gl/maps/NjaRYwoE6NXJT5uK9">click for a map</a>).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Electronic maps tend to direct you to the north side of the church, in Blandford Street, but the entrance is on the south side, in George Street.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Arrival:</b> to the left of the steps up to the main entrance there is a path and steps down to the basement. <b>Please come to the basement for Registration at 10:30am.</b> We particularly want to avoid disturbing the regular Mass in the church which will be concluding at around that time.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Tube:</b> the nearest London Underground station is Bond Street (7 minutes' walk; Jubillee and Central Lines); it is slightly further from Regent's Park, Baker Street, and Marble Arch.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Parking</b>: there is very limited street parking near the church. The nearest car park seems to be the NCP in Portman Square (<a href="https://goo.gl/maps/Rqu96n56ajnYMdo19">click for a map</a>).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>St James' Spanish Place</b> is one of London's great Catholic churches. It is near the site of the Chapel of the Spanish Embassy where the Mass was available in Penal Times. The fine church you see today was opened in 1890. The Extraordinary Form is celebrated there every Sunday at 9:30 (Low Mass).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Of special significance for our training events, it has numerous side chapels, which will make is easier to train small groups separately.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We would like to record our gratitude to the Parish Priest, Fr Christopher Colven, for his hospitality.<br />
<br /></div>
